The user-friendly format focuses on practical and timely tips and techniques to help students jump-start
their job search and avoid costly and embarrassing mistakes. Recommended training time ranges from 8
to 12 hours (but the course can easily be shortened or lengthened), with about an hour to ninety

and style of resumes, and creating employment references.
- Submit Interim Resumes – Final exercise to strengthen mistake-free
resumes for instructor evaluation.
- Polish Other Written Materials – Review Career Planner section on
cover letters and job applications. Focus on Using the Internet for Your Job Search, and review popular sites and
emerging resources.
- Project a Professional Image – Interactive exercises and money-saving
tips on how to dress appropriately when interviewing, along with grooming and positive non-verbal communication tips.
- Develop Interviewing Skills – Review Pocket Guide to Confident
Interviewing, featuring more than 175 savvy tips on interviewing do's and taboos. Practice responding to Top Ten
Interviewing Questions (also in kit).
- Conduct Mock Interviews – Videotape mock interviews and provide
constructive feedback to boost self-confidence and overall awareness of non-verbal communication signals.
- Reinforce Job Readiness – Review remaining Get A Job Kit tools,
including Scheduler Notepad, Marketing Notes & Quotes, Job Travel Case and Congratulations, You Got the Job
brochure. Distribute The Get A Job Kit Quiz, review answers,
and practice writing thank you notes. Encourage students to share kits
